Ricoh updating destination list failed
This post was sent to me by a Ricoh dealer who was having problems configuring scan to folder to a Windows 2008 server. Ricoh devices use a version of Samba that does not currently support SMB v2 (as at Jan 2010). I found this question four days after I set up a Ricoh SP 3200SF printer/copier/fax with SBS2008.
It is true that some previous models of Ricoh devices could not scan to a folder hosted on a W2k3 server if SMB signing was enabled, but this has not been the case for a number of years. Ricoh are releasing firmware for almost all devices to support SMB v2 during early 2010. I didn't change any group policy, but I did have to set the scanner to search for the server by IP address rather than network name.
The error message "Destination Host Unreachable " tells that the ping request from our computer cannot find the route to the destination IP address(destination host).
It means the Packet send from your computer reached the destination network successfully but the remote gateway failed to find the destination host.
If a user’s balance reaches zero during a fax job, the device does not display an “insufficient credit” warning message. Not possible to fix this issue given that we receive fax detection events right at the end of the process.
I had been trying to use a domain account with local admin rights. But it messes up my second request because my file server is also a DC, so there is no "local" account.
When you ping to a host in the same subnet, your computer sends an ARP request for the MAC address of the destination host.
If the host does not exit, you will get destination host unreachable message.
Smart SDK devices that are asleep do not fully wake when the user proximity sensor is triggered, and users cannot log in via card swipe.
Workaround is to set the devices only to go into power saving mode, and not fully sleep.
However, if the user logs out of the device before doing this, the copy functions are no longer available and the error cannot be cleared.
